International school on Ultrafast Xray Science

General information

C2N - Centre de Nanosciences et de Nanotechnologies
10 Boulevard Thomas Gobert, 91120 Palaiseau, France

When

The school begins in the morning of Monday October 10th and ends on Friday October 14th afternoon. Attendants should arrive on Sunday, October 9th.

Where

The conference will be held at the Paris-Saclay University, the largest research campus in France, located 20 km south of Paris. This location is an ideal mix, with Paris easy to get to for cultural or scientific tours, and the woods just next door, easily available for a summer walk.

The lectures and seminars will take place at C2N (10 Boulevard Thomas Gobert, 91120 Palaiseau cedex).

Public transportation:

From downtown Paris, just take suburban train RER B to ‘Massy-Palaiseau’ station and then see below (tickets for the RER can be bought in stations).

From Orly Airport, you have two options:

-          Take the Orlyval tram to reach the ‘Antony’ station, and from there the RER B train to ‘Massy-Palaiseau’ station and then see below.

-          Take the Albatrans Bus 91.10 that goes directly to the ‘Thomas Gobert’ temporary stop (that replaces ‘Place Marguerite Perey’ stop) in front of C2N and nearby the AppartHotel Palaiseau (tickets can in principle be bought on the bus). These buses are not so often, so in order to determine which is best for you depending on your arrival time and date, you may use the Transilien website: www.transilien.com or your favorite ‘google map’ option…

From Charles de Gaulle Airport, in usual conditions, the RER B is the easiest way to cross the whole Paris area from North to South and reach Massy-Palaiseau.

BEWARE: works on RER B on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th October

As you may know, Paris will host the next Olympic Games in 2024… and this is causing a number of refurbishment works in the Paris area. And unfortunately, this week-end of 8-9 October, the suburban train RER B will be interrupted between the stations ‘Aulnay-sous-Bois’ and ‘Gare du Nord’, on the northern part of the RER B line (North of Paris).

A number of alternative options will be proposed, however resulting in ~30’ additional transit time. In order to determine which is best for you depending on your arrival time and date, you may use the Transilien website: https://www.transilien.com/  or your favorite ‘google map’ option…

From Massy-Palaiseau RER station : take the Albatrans Buses 91.06 or 91.10 for 7 stops until the ‘Thomas Gobert’ temporary stop (that replaces ‘Place Marguerite Perey’ stop) in front of C2N and nearby the AppartHotel (tickets can in principle be bought on the bus).

Note that there are works at the exit of the RER station; to find the buses, exit the RER station using the ‘Passerelle Atlantis-Vilmorin’, exit to the East side on Avenue Carnot and then follow the signs. Here is a map where the buses are indicated:

Alternatively, there should be a taxi stand at the Massy TGV station (‘Gare TGV’) that is just nearby the Massy-Palaiseau RER station, see the link:

https://www.destination-paris-saclay.com/fr/sejour/transports/gare-massy-tgv/taxis/?id1[geo]=48.72657894277114~2.2642242908477788~48.723429441250865~2.2580927610397343

Exit the RER station using the ‘Passerelle Atlantis-Vilmorin’, exit to the East side on Avenue Carnot and turn left to the Massy TGV station (there are some works there at the moment, to find the taxis probably you have to go through the TGV station to the opposite side where there is a Parking lot.)

There should be a ‘Borne Taxis’ that you may call if no taxis are there.

Alternatively, you may call Uber or the G7 taxis:
